History:

Charles van Staden is a recognized expert in his field of exchange control. Charles’ more than 40 years’ experience dealing with all aspects of exchange control includes 27 years in the then Exchange Control Department of the South African Reserve Bank, where he early retired from as the Deputy General Manager. Charles was admitted as an Advocate in 2004.

He has extensive experience in submitting applications to the Financial Surveillance Department on behalf of high net worth clients who want to externalize additional capital for investment purposes or who want to emigrate; assisting clients to obtain the necessary permission to inward list; acting as an exchange control expert witness; as well as assisting clients to regularize their exchange control matters. He is a life member of the Institute of Bankers in South Africa and an audit committee member of the University of Johannesburg. Charles is located at firm’s Johannesburg office.
