Richard was admitted as an attorney in 1990 and a conveyancer the following year after earning a BA LL.B from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1985 and completing an article with Wright Rose-Innes at its then Kempton Park and Germiston offices. For more than 30 years, Richard has represented clients in a variety of civil and labor issues in the Magistrates' Courts, High Courts, and Labor and Labour Appeal Courts.
Richard offers corporate and commercial guidance in addition to arbitration and litigation, including company formation, structuring, restructuring, business rescue, mergers and acquisitions (non-listed), and the creation of commercial agreements to address a variety of commercial imperatives. Richard is available for appointment or to be hired as an arbitrator or mediator in disputes. Richard has been accepted as a Fellow at the Association of Arbitrators and has established a particular interest in local and international arbitration.
Richard is a former president of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW) and a former director of SASLAW Pro Bono NPC. He has frequently acted as an acting judge in the Labour Court.
