Wade Ogilvie

Wade joined the firm as a candidate attorney in 2014 and was appointed as a partner in 2018. After matriculating from Maritzburg College and initially studying electronic engineering, Wade completed his LLB at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. 

Wade is part of the Commercial & Natural Resources Law Team and specialises in Business Law, Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions, Natural Resources & Energy, IT Law and Empowerment and Transformation Law. Wade has experience in a vast array of commercial transactions, including various types of company restructuring sale of business, sale of shares, BEE restructuring and financing. He also advises clients on all aspects of regulatory compliance, including complying with the Companies Act and navigating South Africa’s environmental laws, including the National Environmental Management Act and the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act. 

Wade also has experience in IT related matters, including preparing terms and conditions for websites and apps and providing POPI, data protection and other compliance related advice. 

Dispute resolution and commercial litigation also form part of Wade’s practice and expertise. He has experience in High Court litigation, including urgent applications, mediations and arbitrations, land claim disputes, including labour tenant disputes and evictions, and collection matters.
