Michael has been involved in the field of Maritime and International Trade Law since 1976. He obtained his BA at the University of Pretoria and his LL.B. degree at the University of South Africa in 1972 and was admitted as an attorney in 1973. He has gained extensive experience in Maritime law, both in representing cargo interests and their underwriters, and in representing shipowners/charterers and their P&I Clubs. He also deals with Marine and Non-Marine Insurance, International Trade Law, commercial transactions and agreements. He is a member of the South African Maritime Law Association and was previously a President of the Association. He is an associate member of the London Maritime Arbitrator’s Association and a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. He has been a partner of Cox Yeats since 2006.
