John obtained his LLB degree from the former Vista University (now University of the Free State). He later obtained his LLM and Advanced Certificate in Labour Law from the University of the Free State (UFS). He was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2005.
In addition to his LLB, LLM and Certificate in Advanced Labour Law he completed an Assessor Course accredited by ETDP-SETA and he recently completed a Divorce Mediation course with LEAD enabling him to be accredited as a divorce mediator.
He is a LEAD instructor at the Free State School of Law and is listed on the panel of liquidators at a number of Master‘s offices across the country.
In 2000-2001 he was involved in a land claims project where his role was to gather information and interview the claimants and submit it to the Land Claims Commission for validation.
In 2001/2002 he, together with his colleagues at Naudes Attorneys, represented a number of Grootvlei Prison warders who were charged with corruption at the Jail Commission (which made big headlines)
