The late Louis Shapiro was the king of divorces and the person who made the SHAPIRO name synonymous with divorce. Aubrey Shapiro was born in Pretoria and is the eldest son of the late Louis Shapiro.
After completing his schooling at Waterkloof Primary School and Pretoria Boys High School, Aubrey commenced his articles of clerkship at his fathers firm at the beginning of January 1984 and studied part time through the University of South Africa towards his B.Proc. degree.
Whilst doing his articles of clerkship, Aubrey gained a tremendous amount of experience from his late father and from his principal, primarily in Divorce and Family Law.
On 18 June 1991, Aubrey was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa and shortly thereafter, became a director, together with his father, of his fathers firm. He was also admitted on 4 February 1992 as an attorney of the High Court of Bophuthatswana (currentlly the North West High Court, Mahikeng, (Republic of South Africa)).
On 16 February 1996, AUBREY was granted the right to appear in the High Court and on 22 February 1999, he was appointed as a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court.
Aubrey and his father were partners with one another from 1 August 1991 until his passing on 1 May 2005, being for a period of almost 14 years. After the passing of his father, Aubrey continued to ensure that the Shapiro name continued to reign in the Divorce and Family Law fields.
On 1 November 2013, Aubrey teamed up with Dimakatso Antonio Ledwaba to form a new, dynamic and exciting firm, specialising in Divorce and Family Law. Aubrey is currently the Senior Director of the firm.
