Quintus van der Merwe

Quintus specialises in customs & excise, trade remedies & logistics. He was initially part of the S&W shipping team concentrating on contracts of affreightment, charter parties and general admiralty work. While still backing up the shipping team, and now heads up the Shepstone & Wylie Customs team.

Quintus regularly acts in trade remedies and advises regarding trade agreements and trade related matters. He has acted in international trade arbitrations before The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and has testified in Washington DC as an expert witness.

Quintus acts for a wide spectrum of clients across the supply chain, including an array of international insurers, manufacturers, large retailers, importers, exporters, brokers, clearing and forwarding companies, shipping lines, road hauliers, warehouseman, liquid bulk storage facilities, diesel rebate users, chandelling industry, container depots and customs consultants. He has also represented a number of industry associations.

He is regularly involved in litigation for his clients.
