Manie Bosman graduated from Stellenbosch University with a BA in Law in 1966; and a B Juris from Rand University in 1974. His first graduate position was Human Resources Manager with Anglo American; a role he left in 1974 to become Junior Partner at Hofmeyr Van der Merwe & Botha in Johannesburg.
The following year Manie joined Miller Bosman Le Roux Hill as a partner, specialising in commercial law. He later added litigation, with specific emphasis on road accident- and personal injury claims. These became Manie’s primary focus and have remained so for 30 years.
In his role as panel attorney for the Road Accident Fund, a position he held for ten years until 1996, Manie provided defence against the then-largest claim in history, for R13 million against the Los Angeles fund in 1991.
In 2002 Manie submitted a claim for R1.6 billion on behalf of a client from Zurich, to date the largest claim in Road Accident Fund history, and still in subjudice. The same year he concluded a claim for the fund’s largest payout yet, to a Belgian client for R31 million. By 2007, from a single claimant in 1996, Manie had represented in more than one thousand claims to the fund.
Matrimonial law is a further area in which Manie has gained extensive experience; and he is accredited to appear in the Supreme Court.
Manie is a former Captain and President of the Strand Golf Club, where he is still an active golfer. He is a member of the SA Tennis Association, a qualified tennis coach, and a first league tennis player. He has two older children, Riaan and Liana, and a young child, Luke with his wife Inge. Manie is the former Mayor of Gordon's Bay Municipality.
