LB began his school career in 1960 at Grey College in Bloemfontein where he matriculated in 1972. After having completed two years of military training as an officer in the SA Infantry Corps (1973 to1974), he commenced with full-time law studies at the University of the Free State (UOFS). Two years later he had to resort to part-time studies through the University of South Africa (UNISA), as in 1977 the SA Railways (where he worked as a fireman during holidays) discontinued the employment of student workers.
LB began his compulsory articles with the Bloemfontein firm, Israel & Sackstein, in 1977 and at the end of 1978 he moved to Heilbron where in 1981 he acquired the B Proc degree. In the same year he was admitted as an attorney and entered into partnership with Phillip van der Merwe (at whose firm he had completed his articles) under the name and style of van der Merwe & Vorster.
In 1990 the Vorster family decided to exchange the farming community of Heilbron for the “champagne air” of Hermanus where LB acquired the legal practice that was originally established by the late José Burman.
In 1992 LB was joined in practice by Lucas Steyn. Their newly formed partnership gave rise to the Hermanus legal practice that today is still known as Vorster & Steyn. LB left the firm of Vorster & Steyn in 1999 and in 2004 commenced practicing at Hermanus for his own account under the name and style of LB Vorster Attorneys.
During his two years as a candidate attorney with Israel & Sackstein in Bloemfontein, the following twelve years at Heilbron and the past thirty-two years at Hermanus, LB had been exposed to virtually all possible legal issues in very diverse environments. His preferred areas of law are property transfers, the administration of deceased estates and the drafting of all types of contracts. However, his passion for the law (and justice) and his strive for excellence ensure his total dedication and personal attention to whatever is required of an attorney.
